Prenatal Massage Therapy

Benefits of Prenatal Massage

Promotes Relaxation

Proprioceptors within soft tissue provide feedback to the central nervous system about the state of the sympathetic (stress) or parasympathetic (rest) system. Massage therapy aids in correcting, restoring, and balancing the central nervous system, thereby promoting relaxation and a sense of well-being.

Eases Muscular Tension

During pregnancy, a woman's body undergoes significant adaptations. Hormonal changes lead to the softening of ligaments and connective tissue, and as the baby develops and grows, there is a shift in the posterior to maintain balance and movement. Massage therapy can provide relief to the musculoskeletal system by reducing pain and tension.

Encourages Circulation

As the baby grows and the uterus expands, pressure on the pelvis can restrict blood and lymph flow. Massage helps improve circulation and reduce congestion, minimizing swelling, easing varicose veins, and ensuring oxygen and nutrients reach both the body and baby.

Prepares women physically, emotionally and mentally for labor

Integrating massage therapy into existing prenatal care protocols enhances maternal well-being by reducing physical tension, promoting relaxation, and enhancing mental clarity.
